The Cirpack STM-1 is an STM-1 interface connector/module used within the Public Telephony Gateway (PTG) blades of the Cirpack MultiNode-B carrier-grade softswitch platform. It provides the physical SDH STM-1 (155.52 Mbit/s) connectivity that links the MultiNode-B's Class-4/Class-5 softswitch and media gateway functions to telecom transport networks. The PTG blades that house this interface convert VoIP/RTP traffic to TDM circuits or ATM cells, packed with DSP resources, enabling service providers to bridge IP-based voice infrastructure with existing TDM/ATM/PSTN networks using SS7, ISDN PRI/BRI (V5.1/V5.2), R2, and related signaling protocols.
Key Features
- STM-1 (155.52 Mbit/s SDH) interface connector for the Cirpack MultiNode-B Public Telephony Gateway (PTG) blade
- Links the MultiNode-B softswitch/media gateway platform to telecom SDH transport networks
- Part of PTG blades that convert VoIP/RTP traffic to TDM circuits or ATM cells
- Supports signaling protocols including SS7 (ISUP, TUP, INAP), ISDN BRI (V5.1/V5.2), ISDN PRI, and R2
- Compatible with VoIP protocols SIP, MGCP, H.323, H.248, and SIGTRAN for simultaneous packet-based voice delivery
- Deployed in carrier-grade, highly scalable Cirpack MultiNode-B chassis (developed in collaboration with IBM, running on IBM eServer/BladeCenter hardware)
